White men crafting health care bill allow female Senator into formerly uterus-free sanctum
As Twitchy reported, there was plenty of outrage to go around when President Trump and a group of privileged, rich, old, doughy, straight white men gathered at the White House to celebrate the House’s passage of the American Health Care Act, which critics equated with the taking away of women’s health care.
Not surprisingly, the 13-member Senate working group charged with drafting its own replacement for Obamacare also came under fire from the organizers of the Women’s March and others for lacking even a single uterus. The Senate group, however, said it wasn’t interested in playing identity politics.
2 of the Senate's 5 Republican women (Capito, Fischer) have so far indicated outrage abt lack of females in GOP working group is overblown

Susan Collins said same last night to reporters. https://t.co/5NNwcoG4Sw

Always eager to cave just a little bit if it means appeasing critics not at all, the working group invitedSen. Shelley Moore Capito to participate in Tuesday’s meeting, though she couldn’t say if she was going to become a full-time member.

The @GOP would do well to create and fill a position titled Minister of Optics. https://t.co/LGoschQjus

But look how much good will the GOP gained:
@thehill That was white of them.

@thehill Still all white – US has serious racial & ethnic health disparities & women & POC need to have a say or they'll continue to be ignored #AHCA

@thehill And we are supposed to buy in to this ridiculous move
— Bea Rhodes (@BeaMezeiRhodes) May 9, 2017
@thehill Too late. They had to be shamed into doing it. That speaks volumes.
— Jude (@Jxnewton) May 9, 2017
@thehill Yes improve the optics not the murderous heartless bill
— George Brenner (@vanreuter) May 9, 2017
@thehill It's not like they actually give a rats ass about healthcare for men, kids or women
— Janet Jones (@LongislandJones) May 9, 2017
@thehill Cool, a "token" woman after the fact. Not obvious at all.
— Brian Cartier (@Flynbryn1) May 9, 2017
@thehill what a joke. A token woman. And do any of them have any medical training? Likely not.

@thehill Better question is does she or has she ever had children and has she ever been treated for cancers, breast screening, known anyone w/cancer
— Kristine Schmidt (@Kschmidt67) May 9, 2017
@thehill Ahh… The GOP old boys added their 'token woman'. I'm sure they will keep her very busy getting them coffee & sharpening pencils.
— Greg Mic (@GregMic1) May 9, 2017
@thehill bets on whether she's invited to meetings to participate or get their coffee/tea/me orders #LOLGOP
— PatBerWA (@PatBerWA) May 9, 2017
@thehill How big of them….To make major policy decisions affecting millions of women and children…with a woman in the room #PatTheirBacks

@thehill Oh how nice! Will she get to speak too?
