The Golden State Warriors began the 2022-23 season with hopes of defending their NBA title. But an altercation between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole brought the team unwanted attention.

The Warriors never seemed to shake the impact of Green’s now-infamous punch of Poole. Although the team had a relatively successful season, it did not regain its championship form.

The Warriors traded Poole to the Washington Wizards during the offseason and hope to replace his on-court production with veteran guard Chris Paul. 

Many placed blame for the Warriors’ struggles at the feet of Poole, but head coach Steve Kerr isn’t blaming Poole.

“First of all, I think it’s unfair for people to just point at Jordan [Poole],” Kerr said on Bay Area sports radio station 95.7 The Game. “That’s wrong.. .. Jordan was fantastic while he was here. He helped us win a championship. I hate that he gets any criticism. Last year went wrong for a number of reasons, and we all share the blame in that.”

Green recently shared his thoughts on what went wrong last season, saying the team’s lack of overall chemistry contributed to the disappointing results.

“Last year, we had an awful team as far as chemistry goes — pathetic,” Green said Thursday. “You look at last year and say, ‘Ah man, this team hasn’t lost a Western Conference series under Steve Kerr.’ And then it happens. The big reason why is our chemistry sucked.”

Although it’s only a small sample size, the Warriors do not seem to have chemistry-related issues this year. The team has gotten off to a 5-1 start.

Paul is averaging just under 30 minutes per game, while superstar guard Steph Curry is having another prolific offensive season averaging 30.8 points per game.

Poole won an NBA title during his stint In Golden State and at times carried the team during its 2022 championship run.

Poole addressed the incident with Green after the season.

“I don’t speak on it much. But I will say … you’ve got to have a different level of maturity. We had a season to play.” Poole told ESPN in May. “You’re going to have to play with these people in the locker room, and that’s why I said maturity is a big thing.”

Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., said it’s been “very difficult” to be a Jewish Democrat in Congress as the war between Israel and Hamas unfolds in the Middle East during his Friday appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

Phillips, who launched a primary challenge against President Biden, was asked by host Bill Maher whether the Democratic Party has become “too race-obsessed.”

“I’ve never walked in the shoes of my Black brothers and sisters, my Brown Brothers and sisters, my Asian American brothers and sisters, they never walked in my shoes. I love them all. I do think that it’s problematic. I think that’s why we may not be winning elections that we should be and need to be right now. I think that we have to be more inclusive in the way that we talk about and we’re actually not practicing,” Phillips said. 

“And by the way, being a Jewish member of Congress in the Democratic caucus is very difficult right now, you can imagine,” Phillips told Maher. “And there’s a seemingly a lack of progressive love when it comes to our doorstep. And it’s problematic. I know I don’t look like someone whose community might need support or affection or protection… But let me tell you… it’s a big deal.”

Phillips was alluding to the open hostility towards Israel from the progressive wing of the Democratic caucus, particularly members of the “Squad.”

The lawmaker who has been the most outspoken is Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. Tlaib, who is a Palestinian American, drew intense backlash for touting the false Hamas narrative that an Israeli airstrike bombed a Gaza hospital killing hundreds of civilians. In reality, a rocket launched by the Hamas ally Islamic Jihad misfired and hit a parking lot, resulting in a small fraction of the deaths.

More recently, Tlaib defended the anti-Israel mantra “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which has long been understood as a call for genocide of Jews between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. She insisted it’s an “aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate.”

Maher asked Phillips if he has a “place” as a “White, male, heterosexual and Jewish” politician in a Democratic Party obsessed with identity politics. 

Phillips firmly responded “Yes.”

“I’m doing it for two reasons… President Biden, a good man, is going to lose the election. And if anybody cares about American democracy the way I do, a country that has given me and my family so much, we’ve got to do something and thank goodness we still live in a country where we can even if nobody knows your name,” Phillips told Maher. “By the way, Democrats are as divisive right now, I’m afraid as a lot on the other side. And it’s really troublesome and it’s very disappointing and it will be the ruin of this country if we do not start celebrating one another and stop fighting each other so we can fight for each other!”

BILL MAHER ALREADY BOOSTING DEAN PHILLIPS’ CHALLENGE TO BIDEN: ‘HE’S 54! DID I MENTION HE’S 54?’

Maher, who was previously a longtime defender of Biden’s, began expressing his doubt about the 80-year-old president’s chances in the 2024 election during his “Club Random” sit-down with Democratic strategist James Carville, who also is sounding the alarm based on recent polls.

“I think we’re on the same page with Biden,” Maher said. “Did a great service, but whereas in 2020, maybe he was the only one who could have beaten Trump, I think now he’s the only one who will lose to him.” 

The HBO star quickly welcomed Phillips’ entry into the 2024 race, stressing how he’s only 54 years old.

Now, this is what you have to understand: Biden’s team is leaking these details because they know that they’re losing political support at home from his pro-Palestinian voters, who, as we’ve seen, have taken to the streets because they’re trying — the Biden people are — they’re trying to send signals of “we hear you” to the pro-Hamas wing of their own party.

Social media users recoiled after “Squad” member and pro-Palestinian Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., released a video demanding President Biden support a cease-fire to stop “the genocide of the Palestinian people” or face electoral consequences in 2024.

Tlaib’s post on X, formerly known as Twitter, condemned Biden’s declaration that the U.S. stands with Israel and opposes a cease-fire, telling him, “the majority of the American people are not with you on this one. #CeasefireNow.”

The post also included a video of scenes from Gaza and protests in the U.S., interspersed with clips from Biden, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The scenes included protest chants from Ohio saying, “No peace on stolen land!” Illinois “Free! Free! Palestine!” and Michigan “From the river to the sea.” 

The video ended with Tlaib saying to the camera, “We will remember in 2024,” before the words “Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people,” appeared on the screen along with a demand for him to immediately support a cease-fire “or don’t count on us in 2024.”

A multitude of X users found Tlaib’s post “disturbing.” Many accused the U.S. lawmaker of antisemitism, others disputed her claim that most American’s don’t want to back Biden’s support for Israel, and some demanded she resign.

The Spectator contributing editor Stephen Miller shared a screenshot of the video’s “From the river to the sea!” shot and asked, “Hi congresswoman, hey kind of a newb to all of this. What does this mean exactly? Thanks for any clarity you can provide.”

Former counterterrorism expert Nathan Sales told Fox News that the Palestinian chant represents a call for the “extermination of the Jewish state.” 

Digital strategist Greg Price commented on the inclusion of “From the river to the sea,” stating, “It appears that Rashida Tlaib is endorsing the genocide of Israel while accusing Biden of supporting genocide.”

Former comms person for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Steve Guest wrote, “In case you were wondering just how antisemitic Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib is, look no further than this. Not only did she make a video supporting the vile ‘from the river to the sea’ chant, she accused Joe Biden of supporting genocide.”

“She’s actually calling for the annihilation of Israel and genocide for me and my family, as well as all other Jews here. So yes, we will remember in 2024,” Jewish columnist Nadav Eyal explained.

Journalist Jim Treacher expressed hope that Tlaib would be out of Congress soon. He stated, “Liar. I can’t wait till you go back to the private sector to hate Jews.”

Townhall.com editor Rebecca Downs ripped Tlaib, posting, “This disturbing pro-Hamas ad appeared almost a week ago to another account, and I covered it not long after for @townhallcom. We must make something very clear here. The calls of ‘from the river to the sea’ in MI, where Tlaib’s district is, is a call for genocide.”

Israeli rapid response X account “Israel War Room” shared Tlaib’s post and said, “In an ad attacking @POTUS, @RashidaTlaib amplifies calls for genocide against Israeli Jews.”

The White House and Biden re-election campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The first College Football Playoff rankings had many baffled when Ohio State was placed at No. 1 ahead of Georgia, the AP’s No. 1 seed that has won back-to-back national titles. A former Bulldog admitted the announcement of the rankings did not sit well with him. 

“Yeah, I did feel some type of way in the sense that we’ve been at the top for a very long time,” Hines Ward, the two-time Super Bowl winner with the Pittsburgh Steelers who played at Georgia from 1994-1997, told Fox News Digital. “For us not to be on top for the playoffs [rankings], listen, it is what it is.

“We’re not the flashiest team. We just go out there and kick tail, kick butt every weekend. We have a great running game, a great defense by Kirby. So we’re not going to make excuses, and it’s not really how you start, it’s how you finish. At the very end, as long as we’re there playing in the championship game and going on our quest for another championship, that’s all that matters.”

He is still tapped in with his alma mater, which will be on full display this Saturday thanks to Fairfield by Marriott. He will be on hand for their “Home Field Advantage” tailgate, where he will interact with Bulldogs fans, alumni and others to kick off the partnership between Fairfield and the NCAA. 

Additionally, in the conversations he is likely to have with everyone in Athens, it will be about how confident he is that, no matter the rankings, Georgia will be playing for a national championship again. 

“If Georgia can run through that schedule the last four games, probably end up playing Alabama in the [SEC] Championship game,” he explained. “I foresee the Georgia Bulldogs being back in the playoffs, and regardless of whatever seed, it really doesn’t matter as long as they win that championship at the end of the day.”
