A Florida man was arrested after he attempted to snatch a 4-year-old boy from inside a CVS pharmacy in Miami Beach, Florida, on Thursday, police said — but luckily, the boy’s quick-thinking father came to the rescue and dragged the would-be kidnapper away.

The frightening incident, which was captured on CCTV, took place at around 11:55 a.m. when the boy and his parents were leaving the pharmacy located on the corner of Collins Avenue and 74th Street in the city’s North Beach area, according to WPLG Local10.

The brazen suspect, identified as 26-year-old Nicolas Sternaman, can be seen walking into the store before he suddenly turns and bends down to grab the boy by the neck.

The footage shows Sternaman lifting the child off the ground and turning to face the store’s door to leave when the father pounces on the suspect and pulls Sternaman away from his son.

The boy can be seen falling to the ground while his desperate mother races to her child’s defense by picking him up and scooping him to safety inside the store.

As she does so, the boy’s father wrestles with Sternaman for several seconds and even rips his jacket off him before the suspect bolts through the door and flees the scene.

A witness and the father chased Sternaman southbound on Collins Avenue where he took off his sweater and tossed it, WPLG Local10 reports, citing police.

Police officers joined the pursuit and arrested Sternaman along Harding Avenue near 71st Street, about three blocks from the CVS.

Sternaman is facing felony charges of aggravated child abuse and kidnapping a child, according to the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation website.

Sternaman, who lives in a penthouse at the Mirador 1000 condominium in South Beach, was also arrested for petit theft on Jan. 3 and was released on a $150 bond, WPLG Local10 reports, citing Miami-Dade County court records.

The outlet reports that Sternaman refused to explain to police why he had allegedly tried to abduct the child.

“Be aware of your child every second because in one second they can be taken away,” the boy’s father warned viewers of WPLG Local10, while his mother described the incident as “terrifying.”

Witness Zachary Jefferson explained to CBS News what he saw unfold.

“I was just standing at the register and paying for my items and I look … and there was a guy just fighting another guy. And I thought it was someone trying to take the lady’s purse,” Jefferson said.

“Everyone was just shocked because it was so quick and it was so fast. The guy just came out of nowhere.”

“Real Time” host Bill Maher suggested it’s not too late for Democrats to dump President Biden at the DNC convention this summer following the explosive special counsel report.

During a panel discussion Friday night, Maher revived his nickname for the president, “Ruth Bader Biden,” following Special Counsel Robert Hur’s revelations about Biden’s cognitive abilities.

“I said he was going to be the Ruth Bader Ginsburg of presidential politics… He stayed too long at the fair,” Maher said. “Bubbling up this week… he won’t do the Super Bowl interview, which is not a hard one, mixing up all the world leaders and then this report that came out.”

“Republicans are brilliant at using this. This is a little bit like the Comey letter, a little like the Starr report,” he later said.

And I don’t think it is because I still think you can do it at the convention. People have said to me, ‘Oh, that’s ridiculous. They’ll look like-‘ They’ll look like nothing. Nobody gives a f— what they do at the convention.”

This is like claiming in front of your wife that you’re not a cheater when the burner phone goes off,” Maher joked. We knew he was old when we elected him, alright? Joe- he’s like that goldfish you get at the fair- don’t get attached.”

He continued, “And who hasn’t mixed up the president of Mexico and the and the president of Egypt? I once invited the leader of Egypt to a dinner party when I meant to invite the president of Mexico. Then it was like, ‘Oh, I hope you like tacos!”

Authorities have exhumed the body of the wife of a famed former Tennessee sheriff more than a half-century after she was fatally shot in a still-unsolved killing.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed that it oversaw the exhumation of the body of Pauline Pusser on Thursday at Adamsville Cemetery. She was killed by incoming gunfire while in a car driven by her husband, McNairy County Sheriff Buford Pusser, a figure whose legend was captured in the 1973 film “Walking Tall” starring Joe Don Baker and a 2004 remake starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Various sites in Adamsville continue to attract tourists interested in the sheriff’s legacy in west Tennessee.

A TBI statement said the agency received a new tip that led agents to find that there was never an autopsy performed on Pauline Pusser’s body.

“With the support of Pauline’s family and in consultation with 25th Judicial District Attorney General Mark Davidson, TBI requested the exhumation in an attempt to answer critical questions and provide crucial information that may assist in identifying the person or persons responsible for Pauline Pusser’s death,” TBI spokesperson Keli McAlister said.

Pauline Pusser was killed in McNairy County on Aug. 12, 1967, and a previous iteration of the TBI, then named the Tennessee Bureau of Criminal Identification, was called in to investigate. The investigation into her killing has remained active, McAlister said.

The Tennessean cited an Aug. 13, 1967, publication of its newspaper that says Pauline Pusser was killed and her husband was “seriously wounded in the jaw when Pusser’s prowl car was fired on at dawn on a lonely country road.”

The Selmer police chief heard a call on the radio from Sheriff Pusser, and he and his wife were found just north of the Tennessee-Mississippi state line on U.S. 45 — the sheriff sitting behind the wheel, and his wife lying on the seat with her head in his lap. The Tennessean reported. The Pussers had been heading to investigate a complaint.

Investigators found 14 spent 30-caliber cartridges on the road where Pusser said the shooting occurred about three miles from the state line, according to The Tennessean. The Pusser car was hit 11 times.

In the archived news article, The Tennessean quoted an investigator who said they believed the couple had driven into a trap.

Buford Pusser spent six years as sheriff beginning in 1964, and aimed to rid McNairy County of organized crime, from moonshiners to gamblers. He was allegedly shot eight times, stabbed seven times and killed two people in self-defense.

The 2004 movie remake doesn’t mention Pusser by name and is set in Washington state.

Buford Pusser died in August 1974 in a car wreck the day he agreed to portray himself in the “Walking Tall″ sequel.

The Texas Longhorns returned to national prominence in Steve Sarkisian’s third season in Austin, and they’ll have the quarterback who brought them to the College Football Playoff as they head into the SEC.

Quinn Ewers will be the guy under center when the Longhorns kick off their 2024 season, meaning highly touted recruit Arch Manning has another year of waiting in the wings.

“Quinn’s our starter,” Sarkisian said Wednesday at his National Signing Day press conference.

Ewers was eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft but chose to return for his senior season.

“I think it was big for Quinn,” Sarkisian said of Ewers returning for another season. “I think [it was] pretty easy to see from the naked eye the development that Quinn made from year one to year two. I don’t think that Quinn was a finished product yet. And I think there is plenty of room for growth and improvement and development in his game going into year three.

“And I think, naturally, when you get into the College Football Playoff and you look at the team that beat us, that was a sixth-year senior quarterback [Michael Penix Jr.] that played at a really high level in that game. I do think his experience, his maturity are all going to be things that he can benefit from. We’re going to need his leadership.”

Sarkisian praised Manning’s progress in his freshman season, saying he showed a lot of growth in the second half of the year.

“I think Arch has got an extremely bright future,” Sarkisian said. “We’re very fortunate to have him on our roster. He’s got great leadership skills, got a great skill set. So, those two guys are going to be big for us next fall.”

Manning, the nephew of NFL legends Eli and Peyton Manning, saw limited playing time during his freshman season. He made his Texas debut late in the year against Texas Tech, completing two of five passing attempts.

Before the matchup against Washington in the Sugar Bowl, Manning shut down any chance of the idea that he would transfer.

“Obviously, there’s always rumors, especially nowadays, but I haven’t looked into transferring at all,” Manning said. “I’m just focused on developing and helping this team any way I can and hopefully one day playing for the University of Texas, like I’ve always wanted to.”

Texas will compete in the SEC next season after winning the Big 12 Championship for the first time since 2009.
