A Colorado dentist has been charged with killing his wife and the mother of his six children by spiking her protein shakes with arsenic and cyanide, so he could start a new life with his lover, according to court documents.
James Toliver Craig, 45, was arrested Sunday on one count of first-degree murder for allegedly fatally poisoning his wife, Angela Craig, who was pronounced brain-dead March 18 and later taken off life support.
As his 43-year-old spouse lay dying in the hospital, Craig allegedly flew his orthodontist lover from Austin to Denver, with whom he had exchanged “sexually explicit emails,” according to a detailed arrest affidavit.
The charging document described the couple’s troubled marriage, financial difficulties and Craig’s alleged sinister plot to murder her.

“In totality, this investigation has proven that James has gone to great lengths to try and end his wife’s life,” Aurora Police Detective Bobbi Olson wrote in the affidavit.
On Feb. 27, Craig created a secret email account, jimandwaffles.com, which he only used at a computer in his now-shuttered Summerbrook Dental Office, investigators allege.
“While using this account, he researched multiple ‘undetectable poisons,’” court papers say. His Google history revealed searches for “how many grams of pure arsenic will kill a human?” and “Is Arsenic Detectible in Autopsy?”
He ultimately purchased crystaline metalloid arsenic from Amazon.com, which was delivered March 4 to the family’s $1.3 home.
The next day, Angela Craig returned from a trip to Utah. On March 6, the couple worked out together and her husband made her a “pre-workout shake in which James gave her extra protein because she was feeling sluggish,” the affidavit alleges.

Hours later, she complained of feeling faint and dizzy and was admitted to the hospital but discharged the same day.
“I feel drugged,” Angela Craig texted her husband. Her sister told police that James Craig had drugged his wife about five years earlier because he had planned to commit suicide and didn’t want her to stop him.
“Given our history, I know that must be a trigger,” he replied to his wife in a text. “Just for the record, I didn’t drug you. I am super worried though. You really looked pale before I left. Like your lips even.”
That night, her husband allegedly ordered Oleandrin, another poison, which was intercepted before delivery.

The deranged dentist was soon back at his keyboard allegedly ordering more poison. On March 8, he allegedly purchased a rush delivery of potassium cyanide, which arrived at his dental office March 13.
Meanwhile, his wife had been readmitted to the hospital March 9, where she remained for five days, aligning nicely with a two-day visit from his paramour.
On March 15, one day after Angela Craig was discharged from the hospital, she was readmitted and “started to suffer from a severe seizure,” the affidavit says. She was rushed to the intensive care unit and pronounced brain-dead.
James Craig’s mistress returned to Denver the next day.

Her sister, Toni Kofoed, told investigators that the couple’s marriage had always been “tumultuous” and that James Craig had “multiple affairs with several women” and was “addicted to pornography since he was a teenager.”
Angela Craig told her sister several times over the past 16 years that she planned to leave him, but he always convinced her to stay. The couple was also broke and on the verge of declaring bankruptcy for a second time, the documents allege.
Angela Craig had complained to her sister that her husband had recently gambled away over $2,000 on a trip to Las Vegas.
Police launched an investigation after James Craig’s business partner, Ryan Redfearn, reported his suspicion that the dentist had poisoned his wife.
Redfearn confronted James Craig about the cyanide that was delivered to the dental office. He allegedly claimed that his wife asked him to order it, implying it was so she could commit suicide.
“At that point, Ryan told James to stop talking and get a lawyer,” the affidavit says.

CNN senior legal analyst Ellie Honig shot down the idea that the Trump hush money case involving Stormy Daniels was “easy to prove” because it involves a “paper trail,” which “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin suggested on Monday.
During an appearance on “CNN This Morning,” Honig told host Don Lemon that the “key evidentiary issue” with former President Donald Trump’s hush money case involving Stormy Daniels was about whether Trump knew the “payments were booked that way.” He also said the timing of it, just over six years later, “begs the question, why now?”
“So I have heard from others that this is a – essentially a sort of crime that involves a paper trail. And paperwork or paper trail crimes are very easy to prove. So you are saying it’s going to be difficult but wouldn’t the bar be really low to prove that?” Lemon asked.
“I disagree with that. I’ve heard that statement from, I think a mutual friend of ours. It’s easy to prove the paper crime if the person’s name is on the paper. Here the paper trail can show us exactly how this payment was made, exactly how Michael Cohen was reimbursed, and exactly how they booked it. What I’d be shocked if the paperwork showed is a direct link to Donald Trump. If there is an email, text, a memo where Donald Trump says ‘Yes guys, do it this way’ or ‘I’d like you to do it this way,’ that’s a smoking gun. But short of that, the paperwork is an important part of the story, but just saying it’s a paper case, there’s a paper trail, doesn’t necessarily get you to the core issue of the defendant or the potential defendants’ criminal liability,” Honig said.
Hostin, a former federal prosecutor and co-host of ABC’s “The View,” said something similar to what Lemon had suggested on Monday.
“I think the severity matters a little less than how easy it’s going to prove. Many of the charges that they’re looking at are falsifying business records. We know he’s done that for a really long time,” Hostin said. “His chief financial officer is in prison at Rikers, serving time for falsifying business records, so it wouldn’t be a difficult thing to prove and that’s a misdemeanor charge. Misdemeanor charges are criminal, and it’s about six months.”
Later in the segment, Hostin said she believed Trump would be imprisoned.
“I think he will be imprisoned this time. I’ve been saying it for two years but I really believe, four cases in four different jurisdictions and a lot are paper trail cases. Do you know how easy paper trail cases are to prove?”

While they didn’t name Hostin in the discussion, Lemon and Hostin are old friends and were once CNN colleagues. Honig has also interacted warmly online with Hostin, like him a former prosecutor, and she wrote a gushing blurb for his book about former Attorney General William Barr.
Some Democrats fear that a potential charges against Trump could backfire.
“This is an open-and-shut, books-and-records misdemeanor,” Norm Eisen, attorney and senior Brookings fellow, said Monday. “Now, to elevate it to a felony is more complicated.”

A man was searching for shed deer antlers in a rural part of southeast Kansas over the weekend when he discovered human skeletal remains, according to officials.
State and local authorities responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday near Humboldt, a small town about 110 miles south of Kansas City.
Officials were able to confirm that the remains belonged to a human, but they were so decomposed that the age and gender were not immediately apparent. An autopsy is scheduled to positively identify the remains and notify next-of-kin.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Allen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case but don’t believe there is a threat to the public.
“In these types of cases investigators typically first consider individuals who have been reported missing in the area,” a Kansas Bureau of Investigation spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
