Not many people expected the West Orange High School seniors to vote for Travjuan ‘Bubba’ Hunter and Semone Adkins for homecoming king and queen. Although the two have been friends for years, they never thought they would make it onto homecoming court together. They both have Down Syndrome.
They are the first-known couple with Down syndrome to receive the honor in Florida
Bubba and Semone were crowned on the field – there weren’t many dry eyes looking on.
Their competition was stiff, the court was full of football players and cheerleaders. But, the odd couple won out.
They were treated like royalty once crowned.
Crowds of students cheered for the couple that no one thought would win.
