Comedian Lewis Black has always been known (and generally revered) for his blunt speech, his political rants and his mixture of comedy and rage which gives us a very modern Carlin-esque performance.
Today on Twitter, Black tweeted out some support to the troops, as well as a message to the rest of the country that perhaps we should be getting our act together:
To those who have served and to those who do. Many thanks and my deepest appreciation for all you have done and all you do.

To those in our armed forces, if your level of sacrifice were the model for our country we'd have no problems.

The tweets seemed to touch a number of people, veterans in particular:
@TheLewisBlack thank you for your support Mr. Black. I remember seeing your show in Hampton Roads….hilarious GO NAVY pic.twitter.com/MPdZT91s

@TheLewisBlack thanks for the support. America's Army couldn't do it without your backing. An Army of the people for the people! #USARMY

@TheLewisBlack Your level of respect to where it's due is an example everyone should follow Mr. Black. I enjoyed you in Coquitlam B.C.

@TheLewisBlack I return the thanks to you Lewis. Your comedy has helped me cope with the pure insanity of this world many times.

It’s always nice to remember the men and women in the armed forces, and Mr. Black shows some true grace in doing just that.
