Even though it didn’t happen at a major, American John Isner managed to shock the world by beating the nationally recognized best tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic.

From ESPN:

John Isner fired 20 aces, including one at 135 mph on his fourth match point, to beat top-ranked Novak Djokovic 7-6 (7), 3-6, 7-6 (5) Saturday in the BNP Paribas Open semifinals.

Isner will take on No. 3 Roger Federer in Sunday’s final. Federer topped No. 2 Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-4 in the other semifinal.

Isner is trying to become the first American winner in the desert since Andre Agassi in 2001.

If Federer beats Isner, his reunion-with-old-trophies tour continues. Rotterdam after 7 years, Dubai after 5 years, and IW after 6 years!

First Federer, now Djokovic. When the Mayans predicted something big in 2012 they may have been talking about John Isner.
