Egyptian flight school student faces deportation after threatening Trump

MeetEmadeldin Elsayed, a 23-year-old Egyptian studying at a flight school in California who is angry that the U.S. might deport him after heposted on Facebook that he“was willing to serve a life sentence for killing [Donald Trump] and the world would thank him.”

He says it was just a “stupid post” and he didn’t really mean it. From The Hill:

“It’s just a stupid post. You can find thousands of these every hour on Facebook and the media,” Elsayed said in a phone interview with The Associated Press from jail. “I don’t know why would they think I am a threat to the national security of the United States just because of a stupid post.”

He said he wrote the post because he was outraged by Trumps comments about Muslims, but immediately regretted it.

But get this…

Elsayed isn’t being deported over the threat, however. The flight school revoked his visa after the incident and that’s why he’s in jail awaiting a hearing. From the AP:

U.S. Secret Service agents interviewed Elsayed in early February after he posted a photo of Trump on Facebook and wrote he was willing to serve a life sentence for killing the billionaire and the world would thank him, Bushra said. The agents returned eight days later and told him federal prosecutors had declined to charge him but said his visa to attend flight school had been revoked. He was arrested by immigration authorities.

[…]

Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement that Elsayed was arrested because he violated “the terms of his admission to the United States.” The agency did not provide further details.

Place your bets: Does he get to stay or does the judge deport him?
