Brooks Koepka’s wife, Jena Sims, celebrated his selection for the U.S. Ryder Cup team on social media Tuesday, just days after predicting that the 2023 PGA Championship winner would get the call.

Sims posted the announcement to her Instagram story with the caption “See u in Italy!” after U.S. captain Zach Johnson announced Koepka’s name during a press conference at the PGA of America’s headquarters in Frisco, Texas.

“Congrats to the captain’s picks and all the team members,” she wrote in a separate post. “Can’t wait to be part of this magical experience and rep USA!”

LIV GOLF’S BROOKS KOEPKA NAMED TO US RYDER CUP TEAM AS 1 OF 6 CAPTAIN’S PICKS

Koepka was knocked out of the six automatic qualifiers in the final week, but picking the five-time major winner wasn’t a difficult decision for Johnson.

“It was a pretty easy pick,” Johnson said. “He’s built, in my mind, for the biggest of stages, and there’s no bigger stage than the Ryder Cup.”

Reports from the weekend claimed Sims may have “leaked” the potential pick after she posted a picture of Koepka on Sunday holding a pizza on an American flag plate with the caption “Foreshadowing?”

But she said Tuesday it was just a coincidence.

“We didn’t know when I took the pizza pic on the [American Flag] paper plate,” she said. “Tradition to eat pizza off paper plates in our household and Brooks grabbed those flag ones so I made the joke and it took off.”

Sims did admit she knew Monday but was “sworn to secrecy.”

Aside from Koepka’s switch to LIV Golf, the likelihood of his selection for the U.S. Ryder Cup team was no secret based on his dominant performance this season, which included his victory at the PGA Championship and his second-place finish at the Masters.

“Super excited. Looking forward to it, and we’ve got a great group of guys, great captain, great assistants,” Koepka said Tuesday. “It’s going to be a fun week.”

Republican lawmakers are turning up the heat against the Pentagon’s potential plea deal that could mean no 9/11 architects or co-conspirators ever face the death penalty.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R.-Texas, and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R.-N.Y., sent a letter Monday to Secretary of State Lloyd Austin calling a potential plea deal “completely unacceptable,” adding it would rob victims’ families of a “full measure of justice.”

“Make no mistake, any outcome short of the death penalty for the September 11th plotters would be completely unacceptable,” the letter states.

“These families have already been robbed of their loved ones, they should not also be robbed of the full measure of justice in this case. The September 11th plotters are mass murderers, deserving of the ultimate punishment. Indeed, if there are persons walking the face of the Earth who are deserving of the death penalty, it is these five men.”

VIVEK RAMASWAMY ON 9/11: ‘I DON’T BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT HAS TOLD US THE TRUTH’

Cruz told Fox News Digital in a statement Tuesday if the terrorist attacks never face trial, “the American people and the victims of this horrific attack will be denied the justice and closure they rightly deserve.”

“Any outcome short of a trial followed by the death penalty would constitute a total failure of leadership by the Department of Defense,” Cruz said.

BIDEN ADMIN ENRAGES FAMILIES OF 9/11 VICTIMS AS MASTERMINDS COULD AVOID DEATH PENALTY: ‘THEY DESERVE NO MERCY’

He added he and Malliotakis will be “working to ensure that the Biden administration is responsive to congressional oversight, especially as we consider government funding.”

“It’s been 22 years since the September 11th terrorist attacks. My colleagues & I are telling @POTUS that plea deals for the terrorists responsible for those horrific attacks are unacceptable. These murderers deserve the death penalty – NOTHING less,” Malliotakis posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Monday.

Brett Eagleson, president of Justice 911, a grassroots organization made up of 9/11 survivors and victims’ families, told Fox News Digital Tuesday it’s a step forward to see lawmakers sound the alarm on the plea deal, but much more still needs to be done to ensure justice is served.

“This is an absurd betrayal of justice,” Eagleson said of the negotiations. “This is all about the fact that they’re entering into plea deals, which would allow these five inmates to avoid a public trial — and we deserve better as Americans.”

9/11 TERRORIST SUSPECTS COULD AVOID DEATH PENALTY AMID PLEA NEGOTIATIONS: LETTER TO FAMILIES

“We are families who have been fighting for 22 years for the real story for truth and accountability. And allowing these detainees to take plea deals is just another step in this 22-year-long odyssey of our government trying to keep the real information about who committed 9/11 and who (helped) those hijackers under lock and key,” he said.

Cruz and Malliotakis join Rep. Mike Lawler, R.-N.Y., House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Rep. Pat Ryan, D-N.Y., who sent a letter to the Biden administration last week criticizing the possible plea deal.

The backlash comes as the victims’ families of the 9/11 attack received a letter Aug. 1 from the Pentagon informing them the federal government may consider a plea deal for “principal architect” Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his four co-conspirators seeking to avoid the death penalty. Fox News Digital received a copy of the letter, which was first obtained by The Associated Press.

In response, more than 2,000 family members of those killed in the 9/11 attacks fired back in a letter, saying, without a trial, it would “continue to keep the information provided to his [Mohammed] legal team — information that no doubt would shed light on the identity of the 9/11 conspirators — secret and hidden not only from the 9/11 Families but from the American public.”

The negotiations, which began more than a year ago and have not concluded, come amid allegations al Qaeda prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay endured torture, including waterboarding, at the hands of the CIA. These allegations have raised concerns about the potential impact on prosecutors’ cases.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.

A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. Personal computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician.

A new North Carolina state law gives police increased power in some instances to release photos of juvenile suspects accused of murder and other violent crimes.

The bipartisan law aims to help law enforcement locate juvenile suspects to arrest them, the same reason photos of adult suspects are made available to the public. The legislation was approved as the state grapples with a rise in crimes committed by teenagers.

House Bill 186, signed into law last week, allows a judge, or, in some cases, police to release a picture or mugshot of a teenage suspect in efforts to take them into custody, which was previously prohibited under state juvenile laws, according to local outlet WLOS.

In Dec. 2019, North Carolina was the last state to increase the age of a juvenile to 18, which allowed most offenders under 19 to be heard in juvenile court.

“When you have a murderer on the loose, or a rapist on the loose, or some heinous criminal, the victims of the first crime need to know that everything’s being done to catch them,” Eddie Caldwell, general counsel for the North Carolina’s Sheriff’s Association, told the outlet. “When these folks commit these heinous crimes they give up some of these protections we would provide to other juveniles.”

The law makes it easier for law enforcement to release a suspect’s picture through the media, said Vicki Jayne, a longtime capital defender for the state of North Carolina. It also would speed up the process of moving the case of teenager accused of committing a violent crime to adult court, which Jayne says will clog up the court system more than it already is.

North Carolina was the last state to increase the age of a juvenile to 18 in 2019, which allowed nonviolent offenders 18 years old and under to be heard in juvenile court.

Under the new law, a prosecutor could take a case before a grand jury and if the teenager was indicted with murder, the case would automatically be tried in adult court. Previously, the prosecutor would decide whether the accused would be tried as an adult.

MISSING NORTH CAROLINA WOMAN ALISHA WATTS FOUND DEAD; COPS ARREST BOYFRIEND WITH REPORTED CRIMINAL PAST

Michael Hall, who runs the nonprofit Generation 2 Generation in Asheville, spent 14 years in prison for attempted murder and armed robbery. He opposes the law, saying that passing legislation to crack down on teenage crime fails to address the root causes of what led the juveniles to commit violent crimes.

“There is to some degree a need for certain crimes committed by youth to be dealt with in a particular way, possibly as adults,” Hall said. “However, what’s the greater need, arrest them or treat whatever has led them to commit such crimes.”

“We arrest them, convict them, but don’t treat,” he added. “With this demographic of youth, what gets focused on is what did they do, not what happened that led them to what they did.”

Hall said he ended up in prison following struggles he faced as a teenager after his mother died, which caused him to develop anger issues with no parent around.

“I needed to slow down, think, evaluate my life,” he said. “Everywhere I looked there was not an outlet for someone to say to me, slow down.”

The law will take effect on December 1.

A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. Personal computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician.

Two fans rushed the outfield at Coors Field on Monday night to hug Atlanta Braves star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr, which resulted in the All-Star falling to the grass after security tried to break things up.

It was a wild scene when one fan made his way to Acuña, who didn’t seem to be too alarmed at the situation.

While the fan had his phone out, presumably trying to take a picture with Acuña, a security guard rushed in and grabbed the fan, who wouldn’t let go of the outfielder.

Another security guard tried to help by bending down to grab the fan’s legs, but the fan simply would not let go of Acuña.

That’s when another fan ran onto the field to do the exact same, and things went awry.

The second fan’s arrival caused more security guards to get involved, which ultimately led to Acuña hitting the deck after tripping over one of the security guards on the ground behind him.

Luckily, the star player was not injured in the incident.

THROWBACK CLIP OF JOHN SMOLTZ GETTING HIT BY A PITCH PROMPTS ROAST FROM EX-BRAVES TEAMMATE CHIPPER JONES

The Braves’ bullpen catcher and other players on the field ran over to check on their teammate as security apprehended the fans.

While they were being detained, Acuña appeared to speak to one of them, but it’s not clear if he was angry or not.

The second fan was also barking something at the outfielder and he was putting up a fight as multiple security guards wrestled him off the field.

Acuña had himself quite the game at Coors Field in the 14-4 win against the Colorado Rockies. He finished 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run, four runs scored and five RBIs – three of which came on a bases-loaded double in the top of the ninth inning.

Acuña is on an MVP tear this season, hitting .335 with a .990 OPS, 30 homers and 81 RBIs. The Braves, who hold the best record in the MLB, entered Monday’s game against the Rockies 84-45 with a 12-game lead in the NL East.

Luckily for the Braves, the wild incident didn’t hurt their star player who is crucial to their success.

Cool info so much really great

A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. Personal computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician.

On this day in history, Aug. 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall near New Orleans, Louisiana — causing massive destruction.

Katrina made landfall along the Gulf Coast early that morning as a large Category 3 hurricane, according to multiple sources.

Sustained winds were around 145 mph in southeast Louisiana.

Katrina continued northward, affecting areas near New Orleans to areas near Mobile, Alabama.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY, AUGUST 28, 1996, PRINCE CHARLES AND PRINCESS DIANA OFFICIALLY DIVORCE

Devastating damage occurred along the Gulf Coast.

Katrina will most likely go down as one of the worst natural disasters in United States history, the National Weather Service said.

Katrina was the third most powerful storm of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, said History.com.

“In the wake of the storm, there were over 50 failures of the levees and flood walls around New Orleans and its suburbs. The levee and flood wall failures caused widespread flooding,” the same source recounted.

After briefly coming ashore in southern Florida on August 25 as a Category 1 hurricane, Katrina gained strength before slamming into the Gulf Coast on August 29.

Because of the threat of Hurricane Katrina at the time, Mayor Ray Nagin issued a mandatory evacuation for the city of New Orleans.

About 80% of the city’s population evacuated, while 10,000 people headed to the Superdome for shelter, said NewOrleans.com.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY, JAN. 28, 1986, SPACE SHUTTLE CHALLENGER EXPLODES, SHOCKING THE NATION

Others opted to stay in their homes at their own risk.

Katrina hit on August 29 and breached the 17th Street Canal levee, causing floodwater to run through many New Orleans neighborhoods, said PBS.

The failure of other levees would leave about 80% of the city submerged.

Despite the evacuation order, people remained in the metropolitan area, and those citizens — thousands of them — took shelter in the New Orleans Superdome but were stranded there for days without adequate food or hygiene,” the same source reported.

Meanwhile, reports emerged of looting and other crimes as well as residents awaiting rescue from their flooded homes.

This led to complaints about the response of emergency management officials to the disaster, according to PBS.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY, SEPT. 1, 1864, ATLANTA COLLAPSES AND BURNS AS CONFEDERATES FLEE

The areas with the most flooding included the Ninth Ward, Lakeview and St. Bernard Parish, although there was some degree of flooding in almost every neighborhood, noted NewOrleans.com.

Many local agencies were unable to respond to the increasingly desperate situation, as their own headquarters and control centers were under 20 feet of water, said Britannica.com.

In the absence of organized effort, helicopters were used to rescue many people from rooftops in the flooded Ninth Ward, the same source recounted.

The aftermath of Katrina came with controversy.

“The federal government stalled with assistance for days — being unclear of how bad the damage was and how many people needed help,” stated NewOrleans.com.

On August 31, the first wave of evacuees arrived at the Red Cross shelter at the Houston Astrodome, about 350 miles away from New Orleans; but tens of thousands remained in the city, multiple sources said.

By September 1, an estimated 30,000 people were seeking shelter under the damaged roof of the Louisiana Superdome, and an additional 25,000 people had gathered at the convention center, indicated Britannica.com.

Shortages of food and potable water quickly became an issue, and daily temperatures reached 90 degrees.

It was not until September 2 that an effective military presence was established in the city and National Guard troops mobilized to distribute food and water, according to Britannica.com.

The evacuation of hurricane victims continued, and crews began to rebuild the breached levees.

On September 6, local police estimated there were fewer than 10,000 residents left in New Orleans, the same source indicated.

Dozens of countries contributed funds and supplies; and Canada and Mexico deployed troops to the Gulf Coast to assist with the cleanup and rebuilding, according to multiple sources.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers pumped the last of the floodwaters out of the city on Oct. 11, 2005, some 43 days after Katrina made landfall, according to PBS.

Katrina’s death toll is the fourth highest of any hurricane in U.S. history — after the Galveston Hurricane of 1900, which killed between 8,000 and 12,000 people; Hurricane Maria, which killed over 4,600 people in Puerto Rico in 2017; and the Okeechobee Hurricane, which hit Florida in 1928 and killed as many as 3,000, according to History.com.

In Louisiana, in excess of 2,000 people are believed to have died due to Katrina’s impact. The major causes of death were drowning (40%), injury and trauma (25%), and heart conditions (11%), according to a report published in 2008 by the American Medical Association.

In addition, Katrina caused more than $160 billion in damage.

The population of New Orleans fell by 29% between the fall of 2005 and 2011, multiple sources reported.
