A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. Personal computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician.

The countdown begins with the Shakedown.

Dodge has announced that 2023 will be the last year it builds the V8-powered Challenger and Charger muscle cars before it launches the electric Charger Daytona SRT in 2024, and it is sending them out with a run of six special “Last Call” models that will be released during the year.

The first to be revealed is the Challenger Shakedown, which is inspired by a custom 1971 Challenger Dodge built for the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

Based on the Challenger R/T Scat Pack powered by a 485 hp 392 cubic-inch Hemi V8, 1,000 will be built, split evenly between standard and widebody cars painted Destroyer Grey and Pitch Black, respectively.

THE DODGE CHARGER DAYTONA SRT IS A ‘BADA–’ ELECTRIC MUSCLE CAR THAT SCREAMS LIKE A BANSHEE

The cars will be well-equipped with a long list of standard features like Alcantara upholstered seats, carbon fiber interior trim, adaptive cruise control and navigation, but the Shakedown part is largely an appearance package.

It includes a shaker hood and air intake, 392 badges, Shakedown graphics, red Brembo brand brake calipers, 20-inch black wheels, red interior stitching and Demonic Red seatbelts.

Pricing will be announced closer to when the order books open this fall, but a standard Challenger R/T Scat Pack with similar features starts in the mid-$50,000 range.

THIS IS PROBABLY WHEN THE LAST V8 MUSCLE CAR WILL BE BUILT

Dodge will list the entire 2023 model year allocation by dealer on the Dodge Garage website, which will allow shoppers to track down exactly the car they are looking for.

Along with the five special editions that will follow the Shakedown, Dodge will unveil what it says will be a history-making muscle car at this year’s SEMA show in November, which is expected to be its most powerful V8 model ever.

After President Biden announced his student loan handout plan on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, many parents immediately wondered about the status of the college loans they took out in their own names on behalf of their children.

Many moms and dads took out Parent PLUS loans, the federal loans available to parents of undergraduate students to handle college expenses not covered by financial aid.

Currently, at least 3.4 million Parent PLUS borrowers owe at least $87 billion, according to the Brookings Institute.

AMERICANS ALREADY REACTING TO BIDEN’S STUDENT LOAN HANDOUT PLAN: ‘HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS’

It is not yet clear whether Biden’s proposed student loan handout plan applies to Parent PLUS loans, according to The Wall Street Journal, which quoted White House sources.

What is clear so far is that Biden is canceling $10,000 of federal student loan debt for certain borrowers making less than $125,000 per year, and up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients — while extending the pause on federal student loan payments through the end of the year.

The nation’s federal student debt now tops $1.6 trillion. More than 43 million Americans have federal student debt, with almost a third owing less than $10,000 and more than half owing less than $20,000, according to the latest federal data.

The national debt, according to the Treasury Department, currently sits at $30.7 trillion.

Meanwhile, many parents are feeling as if they’re going to be left holding the bag while others have college debt wiped away with the stroke of the president’s pen.

“I took out a loan for my kid in my name and I paid a total of $35,000 for his degree,” one Vermont father told Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

“It took me years to pay that off,” he continued.

“And my son didn’t get a high-paying job right out of school — so repayment from him was, initially, very slow.”

More than one in five Parent PLUS student loan borrowers (21%) say they regret taking on the debt, according to a 2021 NerdWallet survey.

An attorney also weighed in on the serious financial issue that affects many families.

“We have many parents come in with Parent PLUS loans that they are not able to pay,” Susan Williams, a bankruptcy attorney with her own practice in Enfield, Connecticut, told Fox News Digital this week.

“There is nothing we can really do in terms of discharging them, either,” she noted, saying that “it should be disclosed to parents in the event they fall on hard times that they are stuck with the loans forever.”

OHIO WRITER PAID OFF $48K IN STUDENT LOANS IN 14 MONTHS: ‘IT WAS AN ADVENTURE’

Williams continued, “The government even attaches these parents’ social security benefits. Parents and students need to be properly educated about the loans they are taking. They think it’s Monopoly money, and it’s not.”

Williams, who is also a parent of two college graduates, said of Biden’s just-released loan handout plan, “What about the parents who took their hard-earned money out of their savings to pay for their kids’ education? What relief do they get?”

A Boston-area mom of two college-age kids also weighed in on the Biden handout plan.

“Student loan relief may in fact not apply to parents who took out Parent PLUS loans in order to help their kid avoid being burdened by debt,” Karen Cahill, an educator, told Fox News Digital.

NC MAN PAYS OFF ENTIRE STUDENT LOAN OF $28K — ‘CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW HAPPY’

“Had the kids taken out the loans, we now know they would probably be eligible.”

On social media, parents shared their doubts about the loan handout plan applying to the loans they themselves took out.

“So, the current administration is planning a huge student loan forgiveness plan,” wrote one dad on Facebook.

“I just want to know, When I am getting my refund for all the Parent PLUS and student loans I paid off?”

One student whose parent took out a Parent PLUS loan shared her own experience on Facebook — and referenced how she attacked her college debt, which was taken out in a parent’s name.

“I’ve paid off $40K of my federal student loans,” she wrote on Facebook.

“I started off with $46K ($20K of Parent PLUS loans and $26K of other student loans-subsidized/unsubsidized loans).”

She continued, “Now I’m left with $6K [in debt]. I think this is a testament of my grit and endurance.”

She added, “It was hard starting as a new nurse during the pandemic, but I kept going. Watching Dave Ramsay’s videos really helped me to stay motivated. Now my goal is to pay off the rest in the next two months.”

A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. Personal computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician.

EXCLUSIVE: House Oversight Committee Republicans are warning that the Biden administration’s push for electric vehicles will benefit Chinese technology companies and hurt American jobs.

In a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the 16 lawmakers led by committee Ranking Member Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., write that they are examining “the false claims” made by the Biden administration regarding the impact of electric cars on U.S. jobs.

“As the Secretary for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and an advocate for Americans’ widespread adoption of EVs [electric vehicles], your agency is in a position to explain how Ford’s actions help American workers and the economy,” they write in the letter, first obtained by Fox News Digital.

Biden set a goal of having electric vehicles make up half of all vehicle sales in America by 2030, and the Department of Energy announced in May more than $3 billion in funding to bolster supply chains and expand domestic production of advanced batteries in an effort to meet that goal.

DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY TO SPEND $3 BILLION ON BATTERY PRODUCTION TO MEET BIDEN’S ELECTRIC VEHICLE GOAL

As a result, according to reports, Ford Motor Co. is planning to cut as many as 8,000 jobs as the company looks to make its way in the electric car market. The company also announced that it will obtain electric vehicle batteries from a Chinese company–Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited (CATL).

“CATL alone ‘holds one-third of the global electric-car-battery market.’ This raises concerns about whether the push for EVs over gas-fueled vehicles will make America even more reliant on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) instead of American energy resources,” the lawmakers write.

They call the reliance of American manufacturers on CATL “particularly troubling” because the company is “influential in the Chinese government.”

BIDEN OFFICIALS PUSH ELECTRIC CARS ON RECESSION-WEARY AMERICANS FROM THEIR ‘POLICY FANTASYLAND’: EXPERT

The Republicans write: “CATL is considering two factories in Mexico to produce batteries for Ford and other vehicle manufacturers. It is troubling that the Administration-endorsed EV future is already eliminating American jobs while benefiting China.”

In addition, the lawmakers question the Biden administration’s “mixed mesages” regarding energy policies – blaming companies for “both producing too much oil and not enough.

“You are a vocal supporter of a shift towards EVs and encourage Americans to make the change. In testimony before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, you stated the rise of domestic clean energy production is ‘creating a lot of jobs.’ However, the actions taken by Ford confirm the opposite is true, and the people benefiting most from the Biden Administration’s push for EVs are not Americans but our foreign adversaries,” the letter states.

The lawmakers ask for a briefing by the secretary before Aug. 31 to address the loss of American jobs and the benefit to China.

During a recent House hearing, Buttigieg told Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., that “the more pain we are all experiencing from the high price of gas, the more benefit there is for those who can access electric vehicle.”

However, critics have said this shows how little regard the Biden administration has for the working class.

“We’re for cutting the costs of electric vehicles — because when you have an electric vehicle, then you’re also going to be able to save on gas, but you’ve got to be able to afford it in the first place,” Buttigieg explained to Big Boy’s Neighborhood radio show in Los Angeles in a July interview.

A spokesperson for Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm told Fox News Digital previously that the secretary “has always made clear the Administration’s efforts to make electric vehicles cheaper to purchase so that more Americans can have access to the economic and climate benefits that EVs offer.”

The Department of Transportation did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the letter.

A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. Personal computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician.

A liberal Seattle Times columnist says he’s annoyed some of his readers with a relentless focus on rising crime in the city and other disastrous consequences after its government defunded police in 2020, but he’s sticking with it because the facts are the facts.

Danny Westneat noted Saturday a “share of readers” felt his focus on crime had been akin to “poverty porn,” as though he was “exaggerating fears in a blue city to make liberals, or liberal policy goals, look bad.”

“But both violent and property crimes really are up markedly — to the highest levels citywide in Seattle in more than two decades. Through July, property crime is up 25% compared with two years ago. Violent crime is rising still faster, up 35%. Shootings are up 100%,” he noted.

Westneat contrasted Seattle’s approach to Denver, which increased spending on police for its 2022 budget and created a new program called STAR (Support Team Assisted Response) to have social workers respond to crimes without violence or weapons, and saw a corresponding decrease in such crimes. However, more serious crimes continued apace.

SEATTLE BAR SHOOTING CAUGHT ON CAMERA AS VIOLENT CRIME PLAGUES CITY

“It looks like we still need the cops,” he wrote.

Fox News Digital reported last week on the surge in homicides and shootings in Seattle after the municipal government slashed the police budget in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. The increase in crime has been accompanied by police staffing shortages, and the deep-blue city – Joe Biden won 75 percent of the vote in Seattle’s King County in 2020 – saw voters last year elect more centrist candidate over liberal, pro-defund the police ones for mayor, city council and city attorney.

Seattle became a subject of national scorn when its police-free Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in the downtown area in 2020 became a nest of violence, danger and vandalism.

Seattle’s crime issues have thus dominated Westneat’s opinion pieces on issues affecting Seattle and the Puget Sound. Last week, he highlighted the closing of an Amazon Go store in 2020 for safety reasons, in a part of downtown Seattle now beset by violent crimes. He argued it showed both a need for more police and social workers.

SEATTLE BUSINESS OWNER CALLS FOR ACTION AGAINST CRIME CRISIS AFTER TWO BREAK-INS: ‘YOUVE GOT TO HAVE POLICE’

In June, he put a spotlight on the struggles of Seattle police responding promptly to 911 calls.

“Now, with police ranks depleted, and at least a portion of Seattle’s political class hostile to the idea of policing, they seem to be instituting white-flag waving as a regular part of the system,” he wrote.

That same month, one of his columns was headlined, “The awkwardness of a liberal city awash in guns,” where he identified as being on the political left and wondered how Seattle could handle the rising black market of weapons without more police. He added he always gets “progressive pushback” for talking about rising crime.

“I realize it’s awkward for Seattle and the liberal project right now that crime here is soaring. But it is. Acting like it isn’t is no better than when right-wingers in Idaho pretended last year that their hospitals weren’t triaging medical care,” he wrote, adding, “How are we liberals going to go after guns if we also instinctively oppose sending police after them?”

“Seattle’s botched experiment with defund the police keeps getting worse,” reads a headline from June 4, that talked about the “tailspin” of police since the 2020 budget cuts and an ensuing parking ticket refund fiasco. Sexual assault cases, he added, weren’t being investigated due to understaffing.

JASON RANTZ: ‘I FEAR WE’RE IN FOR A SUMMER OF HISTORIC VIOLENCE’ DUE TO LIBERAL CRIME POLICIES

“Violent crime is doing a lot more than not slowing down – it’s escalating, in rapid and unusual ways that Seattle seems unprepared for, despite a renewed focus on fighting it,” he wrote April 6. In February, he noted the spike in aggravated assaults in the city that demanded a strong law enforcement response.

Westneat didn’t reply to a request for comment.

Seattle radio host Jason Rantz wasn’t surprised the columnist had experienced pushback for his writings.

“Whenever anyone – left, right or center – even slightly criticizes an approach or policy adopted by Seattle’s progressive activists, it generates outrage,” he told Fox News Digital. “Seattle progressives operate as bullies, silencing opposition and ensuring that they get their way. It’s why we keep seeing such massive failures on crime, homelessness, drug addition and cost of living. Residents see and experience Seattle deteriorating but are terrified to say anything.”
