Roquan Smith set up Cairo Santos’ game-ending field goal when he intercepted Davis Mills deep in Houston territory, and the Chicago Bears beat former coach Lovie Smith and the Texans 23-20 on Sunday.

Khalil Herbert ran for a career-high 157 yards and two touchdowns for Chicago.

The Texans had third-and-1 at their 26 when defensive tackle Angelo Blackson tipped a pass intended for Rex Burkhead. Smith, who missed practice all week because of a hip injury, intercepted it at the 30 and returned it to the 12.

Chicago had Herbert run, then downed the ball twice before Santos nailed a 30-yarder as time expired.

The Bears (2-1) angered their fans with conservative calls at times and were booed loudly at the end of the first half when they opted to run out the clock rather than use any timeouts with Houston (0-2-1) leading by one.

Justin Fields had another difficult game. Running back David Montgomery exited in the early going with knee and ankle injuries, but the Bears came away with the win after losing at rival Green Bay.

The Texans dropped their second in a row after blowing fourth-quarter leads in a season-opening tie with Indianapolis and loss to Denver.

Herbert, whose previous high was 100 yards as a rookie last season, made it 10-0 when he scored from the 11 in the first quarter. He also broke off a 52-yard run early in the third and ran it in from the 1 to give the Bears a short-lived 20-17 lead.

TOM BRADY SENDS REMINDER TO NFL BEFORE GAME VS PACKERS

Fields was 8 of 17 for 106 yards. The former Ohio State star threw two interceptions and had a 27.7 rating.

Montgomery walked off the field in pain on Chicago’s second possession after his right leg got rolled up on while he was pass blocking.

Eddie Jackson intercepted a pass in the end zone in the second quarter.

Smith, who led the Bears to an 81-63 record and a Super Bowl appearance from 2004-12, is 0-3 against his former team. That includes losses with Tampa Bay in 2014 at Soldier Field and 2015 at Raymond James Stadium.

Mills threw for 245 yards, completing 20 of 32 passes. He had a touchdown and two interceptions against a defense missing top cornerback Jaylon Johnson because of a hamstring injury.

Dameon Pierce ran for 80 yards and a TD. Chris Moore had a 52-yard reception.

Jalen Pitre became the second rookie in Texans history to record two interceptions in a game, joining Dunta Robinson against the Raiders on Oct. 3, 2004. He also had a sack in the closing minutes.

INJURIES

Texans: No injuries were reported.

Bears: WR Byron Pringle (calf) was injured on the same play as Montgomery and left the game.

UP NEXT

Texans: Host the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 2.

Bears: Visit the New York Giants on Oct. 2.

Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Baldwin have welcomed their seventh child together — a baby girl named Ilaria Catalina Irena.

The name seemingly derives from the baby’s mother, who was originally born Hilary Lynn Hayward-Thomas and only later adopted the Spanish pronunciation of her name, in a move that sparked outrage among the masses.

This is the “Rust” actor’s eighth child, as he shares Ireland, 26, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

The 38-year-old, who has been married to the 64-year-old actor since 2012, shared on her Instagram a video of her and the baby in the hospital, as well as Baldwin sporting a tiny footprint on his arm.

She wrote, “She’s here! We are so excited to introduce you to our tiny dream come true … Her Baldwinito siblings are spending the day bonding and welcoming her into our home.”

The announcement says the latest Baldwin edition was brought into the world on September 22.

The now mother of seven shared with fans, “Much love to you all. We are so happy to celebrate this wonderful news with you.”

Although large, their brood has faced challenges, as Hilaria has been transparent about suffering multiple miscarriages and using a surrogate for baby number six, which resulted in her having two children months apart.

Although a happy time for the couple, Baldwin is currently intertwined with an investigation into the death of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer on his movie, “Rust.”

Baldwin maintains that he did not fire the gun that tragically killed Hutchins, but rather the weapon misfired. While no charges have been filed and the medical examiner ruled Hutchins’ death as an accident, the prosecutors have just received funds to pursue legal action if they deem fit in this case.

A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. Personal computers are intended to be operated directly by an end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician.

FIRST ON FOX: Georgia police bodycam video obtained by Fox News Digital shows the on-and-off boyfriend of a murdered woman’s daughter, arrested outside her home last September for violating a no-contact order and banging on her door in a dispute over money, which he claimed she was siphoning directly out of his account despite an ugly breakup.

Debbie Collier, 59, was found dead under brutal circumstances earlier this month, a day after police said she sent her daughter Amanda Bearden, 36, a $2,385 payment using the Venmo app and a bizarre message that suggested she was being held against her will. Investigators however, publicly ruled out both kidnapping and suicide last week.

DEBBIE COLLIER MURDER: THREATENING NOTE AGAINST FAMILY REVEALED: REPORT

Deputies found Collier stripped naked at the bottom of an embankment off a rural highway 60 miles from her home in Athens – lying on her back with her hand grasping at a tree – and with “charring” on her abdomen. There were remnants of a fire nearby as well as a partially burnt blue tarp and a red tote bag. Her rented Chrysler Pacifica, which led police to her location, was abandoned alongside the road. The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation into Collier’s murder, had not yet publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case as of Saturday.

Bearden, the daughter who received the cryptic Venmo payment, has a lengthy criminal history, including domestic violence cases involving a string of men stretching back more than a decade. Investigators served a search warrant at her home just days after her mother’s remains were found in Habersham County, Fox News Digital reported Friday. Her current boyfriend, Andrew Giegerich, 27, has pleaded guilty to numerous offenses against Bearden in the past three years, and although she had an order of protection against him last fall, they appear to have reconciled and have been spotted together at her home this week.

DEBBIE COLLIER MURDER: DAUGHTER WHO RECEIVED $2.3K VENMO BEFORE MOM’S MURDER HAS CRIMINAL HISTORY

On Sept. 4, 2021, Giegrich showed up at her doorstep in violation of the restraining order, according to police documents.

Bearden called police and complained that Giegerich, whom she had broken up with and kicked out, arrived around 8:30 a.m. and began “beating on the door and yelling,” according to the incident report.

He told responding officers that she’d been stealing his paychecks directly.

“I didn’t have a phone because my phone broke, so this is the dumbest mistake I’ve ever [made,] we linked our cards together so she can send herself money from my card,” he tells the officers. “The first person to touch my money is her.”

DEBBIE COLLIER CASE: CRIMINAL PROFILER WARNS OF POSSIBLE ‘BUDDING SERIAL KILLER’ AFTER MISSING MOM’S MURDER

“That’s the only reason we’ve had any contact, because every week she takes $500 or $600 from my check, and I just don’t see how that’s right,” Giegerich tells police at the start of the bodycam video, when they ask why he broke the no-contact order. “And she goes and does dope with my money.”

He claimed she’d “manipulated” him into having free access to his money and treated him poorly.

“[She can] basically do whatever she wants to me, kick me out whenever she wants, basically just do whatever,” he tells the officers. “And it’s OK because I’m a man. There’s nothing I can do about it other than just let her do it and leave.”

READ THE INCIDENT REPORT:

Giegerich told police he had no phone and had allowed Bearden to link his card to hers before they broke up. But after the split, which appears to have been on rough terms, he claimed she kept taking money directly out of his account. During the encounter, he also briefly mentioned Collier in a rambling sentence as police questioned him.

“I’ve been arrested before – the last time I got arrested because they falsified whatever, I mean her mom,” he said. “I don’t know what the issue is here. I don’t know why I’m so unliked.”

He told the officer that he had even taken care of Bearden after she’d been struck by a car.

DEBBIE COLLIER MURDER: GEORGIA INVESTIGATORS EXECUTED SEARCH WARRANT AT DAUGHTER’S HOUSE, DOCUMENT REVEALS

Throughout the encounter, police repeatedly told him he couldn’t be on Bearden’s property in violation of the order and that he needed to seek relief in civil court if she had been stealing his money.

Police ultimately arrested Giegerich for violating the order, and he began crying when they took him into handcuffs.

He pleaded with officers to let him speak with Bearden. They finally relented and told him they’d ask her if she was willing but moments later they informed him she didn’t want to.

He could be heard telling the arresting officers that it wasn’t fair and asked if he could just go home. At moments, he broke into tears.

Giegerich’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

DEBBIE COLLIER MURDER: GEORGIA WOMAN REVEALED BLACK EYE AFTER 2020 ‘FALL’

In the ride to county jail, he appeared agitated in the backseat, banging against the cage and sobbing and concerned he’d be locked up “until November.” The officer tried to comfort him, telling him he’d likely be freed the next morning.

Giegerich maintained throughout the conversation that he does not use drugs but he believed Bearden was using his money to buy “dope.”

“She’s probably on drugs now,” he told police outside the home, minutes before they handcuffed him.

But last week, after a judge jailed him for six days on another probation violation, his release order requires him to show proof of substance abuse treatment within 20 days.

Anyone with information on Collier’s case is asked to contact Habersham Sheriff’s Investigators Cale Garrison or George Cason at 706-839-0559 or 706-839-0560, respectively.

China is reportedly using civilian ships to back up its territorial claims and magnify its military power.

According to experts and officials, the hundreds of fishing boats and ferries that have been anchored for months in the disputed South China Sea help China to perform tasks that would be difficult for its military to carry out.

Gregory Poling, director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative, told The Associated Press that the country pays commercial trawlers more than they can make by fishing to drop an anchor there.

“China is able to use nominally civilian vessels that are clearly state-directed, state-paid to eat away the sovereignty of its neighbors, but then plausibly deny that the state is responsible,” he said.

TAIWAN OFFICIAL WARNS CHINA, ‘WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER OUR FREEDOM’

Poling said China’s numbers have increased there, with ships appearing “almost overnight” after China constructed port infrastructure a few years ago on artificial islands in the Spratly Islands.

Now, he said, there are around 300 to 400 ships deployed there at any given time.

The numbers have increased with the creation of a “Spratly Backbone Fleet” out of a government subsidy program.

While the Philippines, Vietnam and others also have claims to the Spratlys, Chinese ships deter trawlers from fishing in the area, according to Jay Batongbacal, who heads the University of the Philippines’ Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of the Sea.

“Because they are ostensibly civilian fishing vessels, navies’ ships are unable to deal with them lest China accuse the Philippines of provoking an incident and using force against civilians,” he said. “They take advantage of perceived ‘grey zones’ below the threshold for triggering a self-defense response.”

CHINA RECRUITED TOP SCIENTISTS FROM LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY TO AID MILITARY, REPORT SAYS

Ridzwan Rahmat, a Singapore-based analyst with the defense intelligence company Janes, told the outlet that China has also been deploying civilian research vessels for military-related tasks in areas where its navy would be unable to operate without provoking a response.

He said that China is able to bypass Western export controls prohibiting sensitive technology from being sent to China for military use by building civilian ships.

State television videos show military vehicles and troops boarding ocean-going ferries and saying that they are testing how to “use civilian transportation resources to execute military tasks.”

Videos like that could be meant to intimidate Taiwan, according to Dahm, and Beijing has been increasing military activities around the self-governing island.

While China’s navy is the world’s largest by ship count and has been expanding, at the moment, it does not possess enough amphibious craft to transport the number of troops needed across the Taiwan Strait, according to Rahmat.

“There is always the possibility that the PLA could commit to a high-risk operation against Taiwan with the possibility of losing a large number of civilian ships,” he noted.

Football is simply better during the fall months and Week 4 of the college football season happens to land on the first Saturday of autumn.

Couple that with a phenomenal slate of college games, and there are zero reasons for fans of the game to leave the couch for anything other than a quick mow of the lawn on Saturday.

The conference schedule is in full swing, and we have four high-quality matchups in the Big Ten, SEC, and ACC.

UTAH STUDENT ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY THREATENING TO CAUSE ;MASS DESTRUCTION’ IF FOOTBALL TEAM LOST

Let’s take a look at a few games to be aware of Saturday as the college football season kicks off Week 4.

The Demon Deacons have become nationally relevant, winning the ACC Atlantic division and reaching the 2021 ACC title game in head coach Dave Clawson’s eighth season in Winston-Salem.

Yet, it has been 13 years since Wake Forest defeated Clemson, 0-8 with Clawson leading the program.

Even in a wildly successful season, and a down year for Clemson, Wake Forest still could not beat the Tigers, losing 48-27 on the road.

WAKE FOREST’S SAM HARTMAN CLEARED TO PLAY AGAINST VANDERBILT AFTER ‘RARE’ BLOOD CLOT CONDITION

“The bottom line is we haven’t played well against them,” Clawson said. “So I just want to go out Saturday and I want our team to play at the level that we’re capable of.”

It’s the first ranked matchup between the two schools since 1950 as both enter the game undefeated.

Clemson has remained high in the rankings without a quality win, and we still are unsure of just how good they are.

Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei has looked better after a difficult first season as the starter, throwing for five touchdowns and just one interception. However, Clemson’s first three opponents are a combined 4-5, with Wake Forest being the first real test of the season for the Tigers.

“We still don’t know what they are,” ESPN college football host Matt Barrie said. “We know they’ve got a great defense. We know that. We know they’ve got Will Shipley, a really good running back. Joseph Ngata’s [Clemson wide receiver] played pretty well over the first couple of weeks. We just still don’t know about the quarterback yet.”

DABO SWEENEY, CLEMSON AGREE TO NEW 10-YEAR CONTRACT TO BECOME SECOND-HIGHEST PAID COACH IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL

“DJ Uiagalelei has done enough to be good, but is he doing enough, has he grown enough to make Clemson hang around that top four College Football Playoff conversation? At least for now, they’re undefeated, they’re ranked fifth.”

Wake Forest is led by quarterback Sam Hartman, who missed the first game of the season recovering from a blood clot, and has thrown for seven touchdowns and two interceptions in two games.

“They’re the Atlantic Division champs,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “And they know what that looks like it, and they’re confident in that.”

It has been six years since Tennessee last beat Florida, but this appears to be a different Vols team than college football fans have seen in past years.

Tennessee is 3-0 for the first time since 2016, and they are doing it with one of the more high-powered offenses in the country.

NCAA HANDS LSU FOOTBALL 1-YEAR PROBATION FOR FORMER COACH’S RECRUITING VIOLATION

The Vols are averaging 553.7 yards per game – third most in the country – and scoring 52.0 points per game, good for fourth in the nation. With quarterback Hendon Hooker under center, the Vols are averaging 371.3 yards per game in the air. Hooker has thrown six touchdowns with zero interceptions, including a 27-42 game for 325 yards and two touchdowns against then-No. 17 Pittsburgh.

However, Hooker wants more, with an eye on breaking the run of looses to the Gators.

“I haven’t played to my standards yet, but we’ve been winning ballgames and that’s the total end story that I’m looking for, is are we winning?” Hooker said “It doesn’t matter how I play or how somebody else plays if we’re winning.”

Florida will visit Neyland Stadium in Billy Napier’s first year as head coach as he’ll head into the rivalry as 10.5-point underdogs, according to Fox Bet.

For the Gators, another loss in the SEC – Florida lost to Kentucky in Week 2 – would be a tough hole to dig out of in the SEC East. They will be counting on quarterback Anthony Richardson, who has struggled since Florida’s win over the then-No. 7 Utah Utes.

“Frankly, if Florida doesn’t up their quarterback play, it’s not going to be good enough against the competition they’re going to face in this game (against Tennessee) or maybe the rest of their schedule,” CBS analyst Gary Danielson said, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Richardson, who rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns against Utah, has gained just 28 yards on the ground since and has thrown four interceptions without a passing touchdown on the season.

FLORIDA’S TURNOVERS PROVE COSTLY AGAINST KENTUCKY IN SEC TOP 25 BATTLE

The rivalry between the Vols and the Gators will be renewed Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, with Tennessee hoping to break the streak of Florida dominance, who have won 16 of the last 17 meetings between the schools.

“Probably 30 seconds after I arrived on campus,” second-year Tennessee head coach Josh Huepel said when asked when he learned of the rivalry. “This is one of the ballgames that this fan base and our players point to.”

Arkansas found a way to survive becoming a victim of an FCS school in Week 3, beating Missouri State after being down 10 in the fourth quarter. Texas A&M was not able to survive their upset in Week 2, losing to an unranked Appalachian State team before beating No. 13 Miami in Week 3.

The Razorbacks are looking to start the season 4-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1988-1999 and 2-0 in SEC play for the first time since 2006.

Texas A&M’s defense is stingy, ninth in the nation in points allowed per game (8.7). The Aggies are allowing just 301 yards per game but have allowed 154.3 yards per game on the ground.

UNRANKED APPALACHIAN STATE SHOCKS NO. 6 TEXAS A&M WITH UPSET WIN ON ROAD

Enter Arkansas and running back Raheim Sanders, who are 10th in the country in rushing yards per game with 243.7. Sanders is the leading rusher in the SEC with three consecutive 100-yard games to start the season.

Quarterback KJ Jefferson has rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns while throwing for six touchdowns in Arkansas first three games.

Defensively, the Razorbacks’ secondary had been atrocious, dead last in the FBS in passing yards allowed per game (353.0).

“Well, we have to get better, both of them, really. But obviously there’s a little bit more urgency of covering people,” Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said, according to the Fayetteville Flyer. “Now we can live with guys getting good throws. We can’t live with guys wide open. … Somebody is going to beat us. They need to beat us with us attempting to cover the guy.”

The problem for Texas A&M is that they are not exactly lighting it up with their passing attack, averaging just 208 yards per game through the air, 99th in the nation.

ARKANSAS’ SAM PITTMAN ON PREPARING FOR CINCINNATI: ‘SOME GUYS BRING ICED TEA AND SOME GUYS BRING LIQUOR’

The Aggies made a change at quarterback against Miami, starting LSU transfer Max Johnson in place of Haynes King.

“I think offensively moved the ball much better, had some really nice opening drives of both halves,” Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher said this week about his offense against Miami. “Could have finished a couple of drives, got stuck at the 40 there a couple times which we think we can get ironed out.”

Arkansas is looking to win its second game in a row against Texas A&M after snapping a nine-game losing streak last season.

Saturday’s game will be played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

The Buckeyes, despite starting the year as the No. 2 team in the country, have remained somewhat under the radar.

After beating then-No. 5 Notre Dame in Week 1, Ohio State soundly beat Arkansas State and Toledo. The win over the Fighting Irish no longer looks as impressive after Notre Dame lost to Marshall to drop to 0-2 on the season and needed a fourth quarter comeback to beat Cal.

However, Wisconsin presents a Big Ten test, and a different level of competition.

“Big Ten play is more challenging, it’s more physical up front, no disrespect (to other conferences),” Buckeyes offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said the other day.

HEISMAN FAVORITE CJ STROUD LEADS NO. 2 OHIO STATE OVER NO. 5 FIGHTING IRISH, 21-10

“When you get into Big Ten play, it’s a line-of-scrimmage league, it’s a tough league,” he said. “It wears on you week after week after week. We’re starting with a big challenge with a great line-of-scrimmage team on both sides coming up when Wisconsin walks into the ‘Shoe.”

Ohio State’s offense really got going against Toledo, gaining 763 yards and scoring 77 points behind five touchdowns from Heisman-hopeful quarterback C.J. Stroud. The offensive explosion puts Ohio State as the top offensive team in the country, averaging 563.3 yards per game.

SEC COMMISSIONER ON EXPANDED CFP: ‘WE WANT COLLEGE FOOTBALL TO BE STRONG NATIONALLY’

Wisconsin’s defense will look to slow down the high-powered unit with a defense that has allowed just 246 yards through its first three games, good for 11th in the country.

“I can say this for a lot of guys — you dream about games like this,” Wisconsin linebacker Nick Herbig said.

The Badgers are led by second year quarterback Graham Mertz and are 2-1 after being upset by Washington State in Week 2.

EXCLUSIVE: Georgia authorities served a search warrant at the home of murdered office manager Debbie Collier’s daughter, which she shares with a boyfriend who has a history of domestic violence charges, days after finding her body down an embankment alongside a rural highway, documents reveal.

Collier’s husband, Steven Collier, and daughter, 36-year-old Amanda Bearden, reported her mother missing on Sept. 10 after police said she sent her daughter a payment of $2,385 over the Venmo app with a cryptic message reading, “They are not going to let me go love you there is a key to the house in the blue flowerpot by the door.” On Sept. 14, investigators arrived at Bearden’s home with a search warrant.

Her boyfriend, Andrew Giegerich, was jailed for six days last week on a probation violation and ordered to show proof of substance abuse treatment within 20 days, court records show. He has since been released and was spotted at the home after he got out Thursday.

He was arrested last June for an active warrant after police responded to Bearden’s home for a domestic violence call. Three months later, police arrested him again for violating an order of protection, beating on her door and disorderly conduct.

DEBBIE COLLIER CASE: CRIMINAL PROFILER WARNS OF POSSIBLE ‘BUDDING SERIAL KILLER’ AFTER MISSING MOM’S MURDER

Records on the Clarke County court website show that this year alone Giegerich pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and just last week was sent to jail for six days. He has active cases pending and in January pleaded guilty to six counts in connection with the June 2021 attack on Bearden, for which he was placed on probation.

DEBBIE COLLIER MURDER: GEORGIA WOMAN REVEALED BLACK EYE AFTER 2020 ‘FALL’

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, which is handling the investigation, has not publicly named any persons of interest or suspects in the case. The department’s public information officer did not respond to requests for comment Friday.

The New York Post reported earlier this week that the night before Collier went missing, a neighbor heard shouting and screaming coming from her home.

The neighbor told the paper that the “commotion” involved a younger woman and that “somebody comes up to visit on the weekends [and] in the evenings, and there’s loud screaming and fighting.”

After the Athens-Clarke County Police Department received a missing person report for Collier on Sept. 10, the neighboring police agency in Habersham located Collier’s rental vehicle alongside Georgia Route 15 via Sirius XM satellite radio.

Local authorities searched the area with a K-9 and found Collier dead at the bottom of an embankment, stripped naked with “charring” on her abdomen. They found her on her back, clutching at a small tree with her right hand.

Anyone with information on Collier’s case is asked to contact Habersham Sheriff’s Investigators Cale Garrison or George Cason at 706-839-0559 or 706-839-0560, respectively.
